Mac Whatley

Mac Whatley has lived in Franklinville since 1978 and he is a graduate of Asheboro High School, Harvard University, UNC-Chapel Hill and NC Central School of Law. He practiced law in Randolph County for thirty years and currently is the Director of Local History and Genealogy Resources at the Randolph County Public Library. He is the author of The Architectural History of Randolph County (1985) and Randolph County: A Pictorial History (2010). His local history blog can be found at randolphhistory.wordpress.com. Mac served as Mayor of Franklinville from 1983-1988 and 1992-2005. He served as Town Commissioner in 1991-92 and from 2015 to the present. Mac’s term expires December 2027.
